Rising from the ashes?

It's possible.  Lunatic's' Lair project could return in the form of streaming.  I'm 99.999% sure that no on checks this blog but in case you are someone who has stumble across our work and think it's work looking into that you, my brain damaged friend, maybe in luck.  Both BearAspirin and I have been busy with real life stuff and the project shift mentioned almost a year ago ended up falling through since the head of that had an avalanche of real life dumped on him.  So what am I planning to breath life back into this?

First of I am considering starting I've Never Played as a streaming thing occasionally and then putting the edited episodes up on YouTube.  The year of Fallout was a complete bust because of a few reasons but mostly I lost interest after loosing a long battle (and some files) with Windows 8.  Which is a fucking shame because Fallout 4 ended up coming out and it would've been perfect to go along with that.  Second, my Wednesday D&D group is thinking about streaming our sessions when going into the third story arc.

It will either be a monthly or weekly thing.  I am currently Mastering a 3.5 homebrew campaign weekly and are about to wrap up the second arc then go on a hiatus as I'm burning out.  It's important to take breaks.  For the stream if it is only my game then it will be monthly but since we are all novice Game Masters that thought is that each week we'll take turns being GM and rotate the campaigns. Both of these will probably start sometime over the summer, so look out for that.

That's all I have for now.  Back to studying for me.

Sincerely,
The Simulated Scholar

Why The Inactivity?

Because plans to migrate to a new website fell through. That's the short and sweet of it. There were plans to join up with a group of friends and friends of friends to an actual website but that end up not happening as family/personal matters have interfered with our webmaster. So that is part of why things have been so inactive here.

The other reason is both BearAspirin and I are busy with school. Now you may be thinking, "Why is Bear still posting videos and you aren't?" Another simple answer really. He records huge chucks of stuff at time and then edits it bit by bit. I record what I need usually and then post it after lots of editing. I'll revising this method come spring break and hopefully will have enough recorded to last me a while. This brings me to my Tale of Two Wastelands playthrough.

It sucks.

I've recorded it probably 5 times now and each time I start editing I hate it. I feel like I'm missing some hook, something to grab peoples interest because as right now it's just a vanilla playthrough and YouTube is full of those. Until I figure out a way to make it interesting that project will be on hold. Possibly testing out other mods as well will be involved, we'll see.

Now as for INP, I will be recording more soon and hopefully enough to make more than two episodes out of it. I preordered GTA V for PC on Steam back in January and I'll be recording my adventures there as well. I have NOT been a fan of the GTA series. Mostly because driving in those games makes me wants to punch babies. However I am willing to give the series another chance and maybe I can get the others to join me. Here's hoping 2015 goes smoother than it has been so far and I'll keep you all (all seven of you) abreast of the situation about the move if/when it occurs.

Sincerely,

A New Year Means Growth

I've been waiting to make this post till things are more final but there seems to be some hang ups with our new partners.  To make a long story short Lunatic's' Lair will be joining up with some of our friends and friends of friends to start our own network,  "2 Dimensions, No Point."  The title was original thought of for a podcast series and other art related projects but the concept has since grown to include others and has become the name of our network.

We will be moving our updates and information to 2DNP.com once it is up and running.  In the mean time both Bear Aspirin and myself have returned to school.  It's been a while for me but I've almost settled in.  I'm in the process of finding a new job as well as I still need to pay the bills and my old job didn't work with attending classes.  I will still be doing Fallout 1 and the next DOOM episode for I've Never Played and Bear is currently editing more videos to upload to both the main and his personal channel.

The Tale of Two Wastelands playthrough has been delayed due to continued technical issues.  To get decent video for this I have to play it through my television has the monitors I have are not HD.  After getting all the settings to function correctly and getting some footage (that I was unhappy with any way) the HDMI cable I had going from my tower to my TV died. YAY!.  I'll be replacing that this weekend and will try to get some capturing done while also having some readings and papers to do this weekend.

Here's the first episode of Fallout 1 for those of you haven't seen it already.  Hope you all have a good 2015.

Sincerely,

2015 - The Year of Fallout

After so technical issues regarding Tale of Two Wastelands and attempting to get everything in order for my triumphant return to college, I have finished my first round of editing the first I've Never Played for Fallout 1.  Season 3 will consist of Fallout 1 and the Inferno mission from Ultimate Doom.  Season 4 will be Fallout 2 and Thy Flesh Consumed, which will finish up Ultimate Doom.

The first episodes of INP: Fallout and ToTW playthrough should be up come the beginning of January.  After that, posts will probably alternate but my goal is to have one episode of each come out once a month.  Doom will continue and there will probably be one Doom episode for every two or three Fallout episodes as Fallout is longer game.

We've also recorded more Distance 3Play and BearAspirin will be posting that once he cobbles it all together.  Below is the end of Season 2 to I've Never Played where I loose my patience with Baldur's Gate once and for all.

Holiday Break, Work and Video Games

So I've finished the semester. I PASSED EVERYTHING!! Sorry for my absence, I was super busy with finals and trying to get home for the holidays. I'm now back and I've got some videos to share and a special event to announce!

Hey You're Dead, Don't Help Him! [Melonbomber with Friends (?) 7]

Prop Hunt 15: The Backdoor Wasn't a Real Door

Now for the special announcement. As you know I've been playing a game called Distance for a while and I love the game. It has an awesome community that has developed countless maps for it and they are doing a Christmas event called the Distance Advent Calendar where a new map is released every day until Christmas. I decided that I wanted to take part in this so in light of the fact that I couldn't keep up with playing the maps during finals, I decided to do what I'm calling "The Twelve Days of Distance" by playing and uploading about 2 maps per day until Christmas. They are available on this playlist Here!

Please let me know what you think of my 12 Days of Distance and I'll try to be better about updates during the holidays. Happy Holidays everyone, I'm off to work!

November's End

The month draws to a close and there is only 2 weeks separating me from a month of relaxation (and working my real job I suppose). Black Friday shopping/working was fairly uneventful. I got myself a few choice Blu-Rays and my girlfriend got herself the Xbox One (super jealous, will be borrowing). I'm sitting in my parent's house studying and delaying leaving in order to avoid the miserable traffic that awaits me out there. With that said, here are some more videos!

GMod Murder 5: OH No! Someone Has Killed This Poor Unfortunate...

Distance Beta Challenge Mode 2: Super Saw Hill FAIL!

Distance hits Steam Early Access December 9th and I can't wait to play it more. I'm excited for the content that all the new players will produce and the people I will be able to play with.

Go check out their site Here!

Okay, back to studying prior to my inevitable departure!

New Equipment!

I recently purchased a new external hard drive so that I can store my captures and edited files with out have in to constantly delete things.  Things were starting to get too full and now I should be able to return to my multitude of projects.

As a retail drone the holidays are a busy and stressful time for me so I often just turn on my xbox instead of recording or editing.  BearAspirin convinced me to play Destiny with him and some of our other friends and I must admit I am hooked.  The gameplay is very good but there so much lost in the story being told you can tell things were taken out instead of just never put there in the first place.  Here's hoping that joining up with Activision won't hurt Bungie's reputation too much.

But that's old news at this point any way.  I do plan on completing Chapter 1 of Baldur's Gate for season 2 of I've Never Played. After that will be the Tale of Two Wastelands play through of Fallout 3 & New Vegas.  I'll probably throw in other compatible mods as well.  In addition to the Garry's Mod videos we will be adding game of Civilization 5 to the roster this summer.  Yes, I know Beyond Earth is out but we only convinced Bear to get the game a few months ago so hopefully we can get him to play some more soon.

Baldur's Gate Part 4 is up.  I'm going to start thinking about what game to do for season 3 soon.  I want to do different stuff and hopefully season 3 will start up this spring. I've decided to do the Fallout 1 & 2 for season 3 to go along with my 3 & New Vegas play through.

Sincerely,
